In 2023, I had the privilege to take a seminar titled The Secret of Success. Last week, I had the opportunity to do a Podcast with colleagues of mine where I referenced the same Talk I did a few years ago. Going back to it is a little surreal for me and I thought about documenting some of the lessons here for you. I said the secret of success is Power. I still believe it is. And, I divided such power into 7 branches. They are the power of vision, labour, mind, will, personality, faith, and prayer. Let's start with Vision Power. Vision correlates with desire. It is the mental picture or the subconscious conviction of an ideal future. Every vision has a reason that validates it. Few reasons in your life inspire you to have a vision and one of them is the promise of a better future.
Labour Power. Labour is the work necessary to actualise success. There are two subjects to consider in investing labour into actualising success and these are talent and skills. They are essential elements of achieving success. You must know your abilities and work hard in developing them so that your labour will be striking and profitable.
Mind Power. The subject of the mind can limit people from success because it has yet to be developed or equipped to enable labour to be more productive. You might have heard of the word mentality. It is your natural response to happenings in life that is caused by your intelligence (cognitive and emotional). You develop your mind through study, purposeful reflection or meditation and practice.
Will Power. Will is the permission you give yourself to take action to succeed. Will talks about subjects like choice or decision, self- and emotional control etc. Paramount to achieving success is deciding with your will that you want to succeed and you will see it through to the end of the road.
Personality Power. Everyone’s personality has traits or attributes that set them apart from others. But any personality trait can be learned and acquired. Some include persistence, focus, motivation, goal-getting, inspiration, passion etc. You hear of introverts and extroverts, collaborators. It’s all about personality. If there is any one attribute you know you need to succeed, in any situation, you can acquire it. It might take you some time, but it’s possible.
Faith Power. Faith is the basis for hope in a promise. In a general sense, faith is a belief in something that cannot be proven or seen. It is trust or confidence in something or Someone, even when there is no evidence to support it. The strength of a man’s hope is in his perception of the credibility of the thing or the One who promised. Faith is about trust. Oftentimes, people’s faith is in Nature or the laws of the Universe, themselves and their abilities. Faith can give us hope, courage, patience, and strength in the face of adversity. One of the other subjects of faith is covenant. A covenant is an agreement which brings about a relationship of commitment or obligation between two parties. My bias on faith is trust in God, the Creator of the Universe. People can believe and have trust in lots of things, but unlike others, God’s credibility has always been unfailing.
Prayer Power. Prayer is showing our dependence on a higher authority. As Christians, we pray to God. He is our utmost dependence in situations that are beyond our abilities, which happen often. Prayer power is one of the ways to ensure our success. These seven attributes of power are what underline anyone’s basis for success and even how much they can succeed. I must say that they overlap always, and influence one another. The application of these rules for repetitive results requires mastery. This mastery needs a system.
