You know, I've only been around for a while. And one thing I have observed about life is the importance of what we might call the inches. These little forward press can often be remarkably significant to our progress. If my target is a red dot on the wall, and I have a dark in my hand. How significant is throwing the dart at the right trajectory? Success. One inch away and I will miss it the dot. I think that also happens in life.
In life, the inches are all around us. They are our leverage to not miss the dot. Everything we do is to gain that inch: every book, every class, every prayer. Everything is to gain the inch. We fight for that inch because our success depends on it.
Since 2016, when I caught the vision for my Red Dot, I have never found rest. Now, it's an addiction. My body has gotten accustomed to the behaviour. And frankly, I don't know when I might find rest. I don't even know what rest means. My goal has always been to gain that inch: every new book, every seminar, every prayer meeting, every networking opportunity, every conference, every class, every documentary, every new skill, every project, has all been focused on the red dot. Every second counts! (Sometimes, even when I watch movies, I try to find principles I could learn. I don't bask in the glow of the entertainment, I aim to discover mental models to learn from, copy and replicate in my own way.) It's a toxic trait; it reminds me of Jonathan Larson, the American composer and lyricist. He was so driven everything else became so small, that he could hardly see them. And I am guilty of that. Whatever doesn't have the chance to add an inch to hitting my red dot is ignored without apology. I don't give as much attention to them as I give to my red dot.
My good fortune is that I have been provided for, in many respects, so I can afford to ignore many opportunities to make money (for sustenance), just to gain more inches toward my red dot. That's God's providence. (And I must understand that it comes with a responsibility.)
I don't know what else to write. But, if success means anything to you, if hitting the red dot is significant (whatever that red dot means is to you), then you must gain the inches. It's worth dying for. It's worth living for. It's worth fighting for. Gain more inches. Find people who can fight with you to gain more inches. Find people who are equally enraged to gain the inches. IF YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR INCH, LIFE WILL TAKE THEM FROM YOU. Inch by inch, until it takes you.
Life took one of my inches, my father. Through his carelessness, his health inches were taken until he died!!! But I respect him because he sacrificed his life for me to gain more inches. This is serious. Take your inch. Be very meticulous about it. Your health inch; your business inch; your relationship inch; your afterlife inch. Take them all or they will be taken from you. Don't let the little inches of prayerlessness be taken away from you; don't afford to be ignorant; don't ignore things. When you add up all the inches, that's what makes the difference between winning or losing, living or dying, happiness or sadness, heaven or hell.
Towards gaining more inches. Thank you for reading.
